CHARACTER NAME: Kuja
CHARACTER SERIES: Final Fantasy IX

[OOC]
Backtagging: God yes.
Threadhopping: Sure, just ask permission if it's something more private.
Fourthwalling: Yes, tentatively.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): ...You're really not likely to bother me with much.

[IC]
Hugging this character: Yes. Depending on context, there may be confusion/he may not be happy with random invasions of personal space if he's in a twitchy mood.
Kissing this character: Yes.
Flirting with this character: Yes, he's liable to flirt back.
Fighting with this character: Yes. Be forewarned, as much of a ponce as he acts, he's a living weapon of mass destruction.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Sure thing!
Killing this character: Maybe, I will be asking for OOC contact to sort things if they're going that way.

Warnings: He can be a manipulative bastard. He can also be incredibly catty and bitchy, and if someone pisses him off, he can hold a grudge for a good while even if he has mellowed out some since his initial arrival in the house. He has no shame, either, although he does have tact and a sense of dignity. He may be a corrupting influence on characters that're overly innocent or impressionable.

He has an ability that lets him get an idea of what people are capable of - basically going off the way the Scan ability worked in FFIX and that it seemed to be Genome trick; it's pretty much like a mental readout of what kind of power they have, about how much, resistances, things that'd affect them more, and what sort of creature they are. It won't work on everything and can be blocked!

He's also a very powerful magic user, even nerfed a bit; direct combat isn't really a first resort for him, but if it comes to a fight, I may be pinging you for what you are/aren't okay with.

For Psychics: Kuja will probably read a little odd; he is a bioengineered wmd, after all. He usually has some shielding, although passive effects will work without any question. Light/dark sensing is going to get muddled and confusing, most likely! He's a VERY powerful mage, even with trying to not be overly "loud" with it.

TBH always feel free to poke me and ask about him if your character's trying to read things.

Black Magic
With most of the attack spells, the "level" is intensity and how damaging it is; any given level can be either restricted to a single target/small area, or spread out over a fairly decent spread.
Note that he can do basically non-damaging "cantrip" level effects with any of these that aren't dangerous beyond maybe bruises/light burns/whatever and annoyance, or things like lighting candles, heating/cooling food, etc.
*- Blizzard/Blizzara/Blizzaga - Ice-based attacks; target area is filled with intense cold, as well as basically moisture condensed into hail/ice shards. Blizzara/Blizzaga do conjure some of the barrage.
*- Fire/Fira/Firaga - Fire/heat based attack.
*- Thunder/Thundara/Thundaga - Electricity.
*- Demi - Gravity manipulation. Used as an attack, it's basically a crushing gravity well centered on the target, though he can use it to move objects/do other stupid tricks.
*- Flare - Raw energy burst; there really ISN'T a cantrip version, since it's "I'M GOING TO NUKE THINGS NOW" power release.
*- Sleep - Self-explanatory and fairly potent.
*- Water - Conjures water that can be controlled for a certain period. Used as an attack, it holds a sphere of water around the target, doing damage via pressure and drowning.

White Magic
These can be spread over multiple targets, although it's less an area effect and more a sort of "multicast".
*- Cure/Cura/Curaga - varying levels of healing spells. Curaga is pretty much "You can be badly maimed and as long as you're still alive he can heal it". Cannot heal damage caused by Phantasms.
*- Dispel - Removes protections or beneficial magic off the target.
*- Esuna - Cleansing spell; removes poisons/toxins/drugs and harmful magic from target.
*- Float - Levitation. He's actually damn good with it, enough to use it as a minor sort of flight effect, although he can't really travel/get too impressive altitude out of it; probably equivalent of reaching a second story window.
*- Holy - Burst of holy/light energy used as an attack. Less effective than most of the "black" magic against living targets, ineffective against anything light-being or divine. Mostly meant for use against undead and darkness-based creatures.
*- Protect - Shield spell that buffers out physical damage; it basically functions to absorb the force of any given physical harm, focused mostly on just raw injury trauma.
*- Reflect - Reflects back other magic and energy-based damage at the source.
*- Shell - buffers out magic and energy-based damage; heat, electricity, cold, etc.
*- Silence - You can't speak/make any sort of sound. If you have any special powers, they're cancelled out for the duration, as well.
*- Blind - Temporary blindness.
*- Confuse - That ability to focus/keep coherent trains of thought/properly identify objects and people around you? It's a craps shoot for duration. Probably akin to a bad acid trip.
*- Light - Cantrip type "It's a glowing orb for light!" effect. He can make multiple orbs and control them at will pretty much; they're harmless, can be attached to an object/wall/person, and don't do much other than make it easier to see and maybe annoy nocturnal things and the light-sensitive.

His "Fuck the climate I wear what I want" cantrip doesn't really fall under either. As it functions in the house, it basically makes it so that he won't get frostbite/heatstroke from the temperature changes in the house. Unfortunately, while he's safe, it doesn't mean he doesn't feel it here, so he'll still be cold/hot and miserable with the rest of you.

Age: 24
Gender: Male

I finally will take control ~ Of how this plot will end )
silver_lucifer: (Never an honest word)
[What's this? A video feed?]

[Yes, the normally wide-attention-avoidant Kuja is making a video post! Which…judging by the fog and dim lighting, seems to be in the Ecruteak Gym; fortunately the camera is being held by a Chansey who happens to be standing right next to a somewhat battered-looking Kate, the Charizard's fiery tail providing some lighting for the camera. Kuja's standing next to the dragon, hand resting on her neck…and is on the side of the frame.]

[As for the gym battle in progress? Weellll sadly that's a bit harder to see, considering that besides the fog, there seems to be a raging sandstorm engulfing the arena area, a sandstorm that's accompanied by an almost distorted feminine wordless song punctuated here and there by some very frustrated sounds from the gym leader's Gengar within it; here and there a green blur is visible coming in and out of the sand, a blur that briefly hovers over the sandstorm long enough to be identified as a Flygon, and the source of the "singing".]

That should be enough, Bahamut; Crunch.

[Kuja raises a hand and motions downward, and the Flygon nods and dives back in; there's a brief, cut-off howl from the Gengar, and then the "song" changes pitch as the sand quickly clears.]

How is-

[Bahamut returns over to Kuja's side while Morty crosses the now very sand-logged field, rubbing the back of his head and handing over the badge.]

You've certainly got potential - I admit, it's a bit of a surprise; not many Breeders even bother with the gym challenges.

[Kuja accepts the badge, bowing his head gracefully.] It may not be in the normal trials, but I see no reason to avoid testing how well they're doing; although - [And there's just a brief glance back at the camera-] I imagine it'd have gone easier if I'd had an actual Dark type on hand.

[That just nets him an odd look and a glance to the camera-Chansey from Morty - the look of someone who knows SOMETHING is going on, but isn't sure what.] Well, you've earned this, and you've got room to grow.

[The feed cuts out, and not long after for anyone in Ecruteak, Kuja's emerging from the gym, a very sparkly and healthy looking Feebas in his arms, trailed by Bahamut, Kate, and Hermia the Chansey, looking fairly accomplished. What's he up to? Who knows! Well, besides a certain person. Feel free to bother him anyway! Badge is mod-approved!]
silver_lucifer: (No such priest can pray me to heaven)
[There's a moment where things are silent except for the singing hum of a Vibrava's wings; half of his team's visible - Bahamut hovering behind flickering in and out of view, Karma in his arms - looking like a halfway respectable fish instead of the saddest zombie-fish ever, while Iago the Arbok has his head resting on Kuja's shoulder like an oversized scaly dog. He's still not fond of large broadcasts, particularly when he's honestly a bit upset, but he knows Zidane had to know other people in Johto - and Zidane is still the best exception to his uneven relationship with things like "responsibility" and "morals".]

If anyone in Johto knew my brother, Zidane Tribal -

He's been sent home; there's no sign of his pokémon that I've seen, but if anyone finds them, I would appreciate word that they're alright. [And he can't even say he knows whether or not Zidane is alright, considering what he understands so far of this 'Cycle of Conflict'.]

[Already uncomfortable with being this public with it, there's another pause before the cuts off the feed.]
silver_lucifer: (Who would ever want to be king)
[In Person for current Travel Party - Nanako, Zidane, Ritz] )

((And a bit after the above/any in person threads + checking the Gear))

[The video broadcast is Kuja, in camp, holding a perfectly comfortable-looking Trapinch; his Charmander has moved up to his shoulders, peering around the back of his head suspiciously at the newcomer.]

I seem to have found a lost pokémon. According to the Gear, his name is Bahamut, and the Trainer it listed was Rydia; the name is unfamiliar to me - and I'm going to guess that this is rather far away from wherever they are. Would anyone happen to know anything?
silver_lucifer: (Take control of how this plot will end)
[Anyone out around the festival in the evening in Violet might notice someone tall, slim, in a silver and lavender kimono, silver-opal hair partly done up, full makeup, and preened to the hilt; a slightly less dead looking than usual Feebas carried in one arm with gold ribbons running through his “fin”, while a Pidgeotto hops along behind.]

[Yes, Kuja’s out enjoying the festivities, a touch more on the “trap” side than usual, and in an unusually good mood; feel free to go bother him, mistake him for a lady, etc!]
silver_lucifer: (No such priest can pray me to heaven)
[When the feed comes on, Kuja is sitting in a room, Karma in a water-basin that's big enough for the fish to at least be in water nearby, Miranda the Pidgey napping on a counter; he's got a sprawl of berries, a couple potions, and a few assorted things picked up from the larger shops in the city where it looks like he's taking notes on trying to compound something.]

Good evening, Johto - I have a few questions, and as much as I would prefer solving this on my own, I find myself with a lack of background knowledge.

[He shifts the gear so that Karma, the Feebas, is a little more in view.]

I admit, I know very little about his species, but as far as I've known in the past, if a creature looks like it's a few moments from clawing out of a grave in search of the flesh of the living, it's generally a sign of ill health, which has me loathe to push the creature and aggravate any conditions. I'm well prepared to put time into finding a way to improve whatever is wrong... but it seems more prudent to swallow pride and ask about any pitfalls, or if anyone has any experience with similar creatures - the last thing I want to do is end up making things worse.

[And then, cutting that...]

[Private to Zidane )
silver_lucifer: (No such priest can pray me to heaven)
[This is a joint post between Ritz and Kuja; replies will come from either or both, if there’s a preference just specify in subject line!]

[The Cherrygrove Pokémon center is going to get an Entrance, courtesy of two certain new arrivals to Johto who’ve been stranded on Route 29, delayed by the storms and water swarms, and are now very much not their usual selves – cleaning supplies have run out, the weather has had a nice laugh at their otherwise vaguely decent camping setup, and they both look a bit more dirty, frazzled, and ragged than usual; Kuja’s changed out of his usual armor and silks are stained, although not as much as they probably should be, and is now wearing although he does seem in weirdly better shape than Ritz by this point.]

Oh sweet civilization, how beautiful you are – I think we’ve discovered a wondrous palace-

BATH. NOW.

[That small exchange is all that’s overheard before there’s doors shutting and they become shameless mooches on the showers. It may be nearly impossible to interrupt this agenda.]

[A while later, Kuja’s the first one out, still fussing a little at his one change of clothes, but at least in a less “obstruct my path and die” mood visibly -]

AAAAUUUGHHHH!!!!!

[Although apparently the same can’t be said of Ritz, who has her hair in a towel as she emerges and an epic Scowl of Death.]
silver_lucifer: (Who would ever want to be king)
[The feed is very obviously accidental – and from the angle, the pokegear's clipped to the belt of someone who's pacing around the south edge of New Bark Town, quite agitated and apparently looking for something.]

[Audible, and visible here and there, is an exceptionally pathetic Feebas flopping along behind, trying to keep up as best it can as a fish out of water.]

[After a minute of THAT, whoever it is stops, and turns towards the fish, who stops at their feet, looking positively pitiful. It's hard to tell what it's trying to convey, pitiful just seems to be its natural state.]

How did you even – what bird dropped you here? [There's a long moment of silence as he's pondering the fish, and the fish is looking up at him... then a long-suffering sigh.]

Here. [He's scooping up the fish at arm's length, walking over to the coast edge, and …. depositing it in the water. Then turning to walk away.]

[It's quiet behind him for a moment – but only because the Feebas is swimming back to get a good head start, launching out of the water to land not far behind him and continue flopping along behind – at which he freezes, and turns back to stare at it again.]

Oh for the love of – how hard were you dropped?

[Then follows attempt number two at returning the fish to the water. And walking away. And the fish launching itself out of the water again.]

….......................This has to be some kind of a joke.

[OOC: For those in New Bark Town, he can be found on the south edge of town, near the water, seriously puzzled by his seemingly suicidal starter and trying to figure out how the fish hasn't suffocated yet on land. It probably won't take him very long to figure out the Pokégear once there's a video call.]

Party

Last Updated: 04/02/12

Feebas "Karma" M - Level 5
Type: Water
Egg Group: Water 1/Dragon
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature/Characteristic: Quiet/Somewhat Vain
Moves: Splash, Icy Wind
Luckily for Kuja's occasional mood swings, his starter's more on the calm and patient side - enough to try to herd him a little ... well... As much as a fish that can only really flop around can do. Still, she's trying, really, and may occasionally attempt to be a moral compass, although the "why u do dis?" guilt-trip face doesn't work very well on a fish. He no longer looks like a zombie fish - in fact, he's turned into a rather pretty fish with nice shiny diamond-like scales, and could evolve at any time, but he seems to be waiting for something...

Arbok M "Iago" - Level 31
Type: Poison
Egg Group: Field/Dragon
Ability: Shed Skin
Nature/Characteristic: Gentle/Often scatters things
Moves Known: Wrap, Leer, Poison Sting, Bite, Glare, Screech, Acid, Crunch, Strength, Aqua Tail, Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, Swallow, Spit Up, Stockpile
Caught on Route 32 after Ritz pointed out that relying solely on Miranda might not be the best idea. Iago is a giant fluffy derpy clumsy thing that loves attention and pettings and has about the aggressive tendencies of a dustbunny. As much as this somehow goes against Kuja's ideas - he WAS caught to act as backup for Kuja and Miranda, who isn't good at intimidation herself - Iago somehow manages to have been just too fluffy for Kuja to actually get angry over this, nevermind a habit of picking up when his trainer is upset and being a good pet. (That and Karma has managed to guilt-trip him every time it's crossed his mind.) He basically only evolved thanks to helping herd Kate while she was still a Charmander and prone to picking fights with water-types.

Charizard F "Kate" - Level 91
Type: Fire/Flying
Egg Group: Monster/Dragon
Ability: Blaze
Nature/Characteristic: Bold/Strong Willed
Moves Known: Scratch, Growl, Metal Claw, Ember, Smoke Screen, Dragon Rage, Cut, Scary Face, Fire Fang, Slash, Wing Attack, Flamethrower, Fire Spin, Heat Wave, Flare Blitz, Strength, Dragon Pulse, ThunderPunch
Kate was bought as an egg from Nanao on Tanabata, hatched on 7/18 in Violet. As a Charmander she was prone to picking fights with everything, and if Kuja's hair weren't already silver she'd have given him gray hairs; she was rescued pretty often by Miranda and Iago. Now that she's a full-grown Charizard, as much as she's relatively loyal to Kuja, she's also ... well ... still prone to picking fights and not backing down, although at least now it's less "oh god she's going to get herself mauled".

Flygon M "Bahamut" - Level 93
Type: Ground/Dragon
Egg Group: Bug
Ability: Levitate
Nature/Characteristic: Hardy/Proud of its power
Moves Known: Bite, Earth Power, Sand Attack, Faint Attack, Sand Tomb, Crunch, Dragonbreath, Screech, Dragon Claw, Sandstorm, Hyper Beam, Strength, Dragon Pulse, Fury Cutter
Originally Rydia's; found 7/30 on Route 32. Bahamut's been basically the nice calm stable one that can actually do a bit more than flop, and has started being a fairly active "Morality Pet", helping Karma with the task of acting as Kuja's conscience. He may end up taking over for Miranda as the one most responsible for fending off attacks and protecting the others, as well. Kuja has a standing agreement that he does intend to keep that, should Rydia return, he'll be tracking her down to return Bahamut. Evolved 8/25 in Azalea, then 9/19 in Goldenrod.

Dragonite F "Ariel" - Lvl 57
Type: Dragon
Egg Group: Water 1/Dragon
Ability: Shed Skin
Nature/Characteristic: Quirky/Proud of its power
Moves Known: Wrap, Leer, Thunder Wave, Twister, Dragon Rage, Agility, Aqua Tail, Dragon Rush, Dragon Pulse, Icy Wind, Safeguard, Wing Attack, Cut, Strength
Won as a prize for being on the winning team in Souji's paintball competition. It's a given that any dragon he owns is going to be spoiled rotten; fortunately, Ariel's much milder-tempered than Kate, and more prone to curiosity than picking random fights... on the other hand, she's not the most prone to thinking a whole lot.

Gabite M "Orochi" - Lvl 52
Type: Dragon/Ground
Egg Group: Monster, Dragon
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature/Characteristic: Hasty, Good Perseverence
Moves Known: Tackle, Sand Attack, Dragon Rage, Sandstorm, Take Down, Sand Tomb, Slash, Dragon Claw, Strength, Dragon Pulse, Iron Head, Dig, Crunch
OT: Izaya. Received with a "Gift for you <3" note; one of Kuja's new goals that will probably never go anywhere is figuring out who Izaya is, although he has noted that "Izaya" doesn't seem to exist on the network anymore. Orochi is eager and happy to learn, but basically obedient, if a bit tetchy that he's with an unfamiliar trainer now.

Box

Chansey F "Hermia" - Lvl 32
Type: Normal
Egg Group: Fairy
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature/Characteristic:
Moves Known: Pound, Charm, Copycat, Refresh, Softboiled, Doubleslap, Minimize, Sing, Take Down, Strength, Icy Wind, Sing
Acquired as an egg from Layton; Hermia's one of the rare exceptions to Kuja's small ... small dragon obsession. Between the way their teams work and Ritz's newfound hostility towards the Varia, it seemed like a good idea to get a healer, and Softboiled seems to be the most valid fix to this. (Yes, when Gen 5 is available and he can he'll...probably be getting an Audino, too.) Currently obscenely cheerful and helpful, and despite just being a baby, already prone to mother-hen fussing at EVERYONE.

Pidgeot "Miranda" F - Level 82
Type: Normal/Flying
Egg Group: Flyin
Ability: Keen Eye
Nature/Characteristic: Naive/Often dozes off
Moves Known: Tackle, Sand Attack, Gust, Quick Attack, Whirlwind, Twister, Featherdance, Agility, Wing Attack, Roost, Tail Wind, Mirror Move, Air Slash, Air Cutter
Caught on Route 29 with help from Ritz because he needed a pokémon that could actually fight; Miranda's basically an incredibly mild-tempered and good-natured bird that's easily distracted. Evolving hasn't done much to change that, although she has picked up quite an instinct to fuss over eggs/etc., and tends to be the protective mom for anyone in the travel group.

Kirlia F "Titania" - Lvl 32
Type: Psychic
Egg Group: Amorphous
Ability: Synchronize
Nature/Characteristic:
Moves Known: Growl, Confusion, Double Team, Teleport, Lucky Chant, Signal Beam, Heal Pulse, Calm Mind
Originally belonged to Mytho, ended up staying behind with Bahamut when Mytho disappeared. She loves to dance, which's part of why she's started hanging around with Bahamut, thanks to the singing sound of the Flygon's wings. She's not entirely sure what to make of Kuja, really, considering the dichotomy where he's good with his team but ... well ... kind of raises a lot of "something isn't right here" flags with the Ralts's empathy.

Altaria F "Skye" - Lvl 62
Type: Dragon/Flying
Egg Group: Flying/Dragon
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature/Characteristic:
Moves Known: Peck, Growl, Astonish, Sing, Fury Attack, Safeguard, Mist, Take Down, Natural Gift, Dragon Breath, Dragon Dance, Refresh, Dragon Pulse, (Egg Move) Dragon Rush
OT: Winry; she came to Kuja from Nanao after Nanao left Johto. Relatively calm and friendly, she has the habit of singing people to sleep.
And yes, Kuja's just as confused that she's a Dragon Type and Kate isn't as anyone else.

Skarmory F "Brenda" - Lvl 92
Type: Steel/Flying
Egg Group: Flying
Ability: Keen Eye
Nature/Characteristic: Bold/Highly Persistent
Moves Known: Leer, Peck, Sand-Attack, Swift, Agility, Fury Attack, Feint, Air Cutter, Spikes, Metal Sound, Steel Wing, Autotomize, Air Slash, Slash, Night Slash, Cut
Originally Ritz's starter. Brenda's slightly headstrong and prone to preening and fussing over anyone with white/silver hair; she's starting to transfer the "Leader" complex about the team she's in to Kuja's team that she used to have towards the rest of Ritz's team, with ... mixed success - granted, most of Kuja's are fairly laid back and already used to some degree of getting fussed at by the knifebird.

Gyarados M "Andre" - Lvl 79
Type: Water/Flying
Egg Group: Water 2/Dragon
Ability: Intimidate
Nature/Characteristic: Calm/Alert to Sounds
Moves Known: Splash, Tackle, Bite, Dragon Rage, Leer, Ice Fang, Aqua Tail, Rain Dance, Hydro Pump, Dragon Dance, Hyper Beam, Dragon Pulse, Surf
The calmest, fuzziest Gyarados ever; Ritz found out early what Magikarp grew into and decided that, instead of treating it like a useless fish, she'd fuss over and cuddle it and treat him well, which has lead to a large, gentle, cuddly monster. He's definitely a bit on the moping side with his original trainer gone, but has been otherwise fitting in fairly well with the rest of Kuja's team, and getting fussed over by the others.

Houndoom M "Mathis" - Lvl 92
Type: Dark/Fire
Egg Group: Field
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature/Characteristic: Serious/Likes to Run
Moves Known: Leer, Ember, Howl, Smog, Roar, Bite, Odor Sleuth, Beat Up, Fire Fang, Faint Attack, Embargo, Foul Play, Flamethrower
Originally headstrong and prone to ignoring his trainers, Mathis acquired a guilt complex after Ritz got soul-stolen by a Shedinja; he's actually more inclined to listen to Kuja and treat him with respect after Kuja took him out bug-hunting while she was out. He's still headstrong and prone to getting into fights, but a bit more likely to be careful of what he's doing and mind his trainer.

Nidorina F "Adelle/Adelaide" - Lvl 30
Type: Poison
Egg Group: Undiscovered
Ability: Poison Point
Nature/Characteristic: Gentle/Thoroughly Cunning
Moves Known: Growl, Scratch, Tail Whip, Double Kick, Poison Sting, Dig, Ice Beam, Cut, Fury Swipes, Bite, Helping Hand
A gift he'd caught and taught a few unusual moves when Ritz was laid up after the big tournament; Adelle is basically protective of her trainer and the rest of the team, although otherwise fairly nonaggressive, and prone to more thought out reactions to possible threats and preparation than anything.

Deino F "Tiamat" - Lvl 22
Type: Dark/Dragon
Egg Group: Dragon
Ability: Hustle
Nature/Characteristic: Brave, Likes to Fight
Moves Known: Tackle, Dragon Rage, Focus Energy, Bite, Headbutt, Strength, Roar
Hatched from his Valentine's egg; Tiamat's happily been teaming up with the pokemon that used to belong to Ritz to gang up and drag him out training. (Which, at this point, is partly him following along behind while they get into things, with Titania or Hermia along to do healing and keep them from getting in too far over their heads - more an issue with Tiamat than with Ritz's.) Tiamat's happy to go looking for fights to prove herself in, although at the moment that includes a lot of biting at things in front of her without thinking, something that's led to Kuja wearing heavy gloves and more than one incident of abusing Hermia and Skye's "Sing" to put a stop to squabbles.
