[There's a moment where things are silent except for the singing hum of a Vibrava's wings; half of his team's visible - Bahamut hovering behind flickering in and out of view, Karma in his arms - looking like a halfway respectable fish instead of the saddest zombie-fish ever, while Iago the Arbok has his head resting on Kuja's shoulder like an oversized scaly dog. He's still not fond of large broadcasts, particularly when he's honestly a bit upset, but he knows Zidane had to know other people in Johto - and Zidane is still the best exception to his uneven relationship with things like "responsibility" and "morals".]

If anyone in Johto knew my brother, Zidane Tribal -

He's been sent home; there's no sign of his pokémon that I've seen, but if anyone finds them, I would appreciate word that they're alright. [And he can't even say he knows whether or not Zidane is alright, considering what he understands so far of this 'Cycle of Conflict'.]

[Already uncomfortable with being this public with it, there's another pause before the cuts off the feed.]

My best guesses would be the world recovering from some kind of major disaster that actively damaged something so that the other races were wiped out and magic suppressed and forgotten, or someone willfully working to eradicate such - or possibly the former caused by the latter. There was a race wiped out down to two surviving members on my world - they were a little isolated, but not long afterwards even in the area they'd lived in they'd fallen into being practically legends and nothing more; give enough time and enough other pressures to distract people and they would've been completely forgotten save some out of the way rubble in a few generations, taking an entire school of magic with them. [] This "Cycle of Conflict" is something that hasn't happened for me yet, so I wouldn't know if anyone in it was from Saint Ivalice, and from what Zidane had said, many of those involved gradually lost memories of their homeworld, which might make it difficult to ask the others.

[] I don't suppose your Dream Ivalice had moogles?

[GRATE USE OF PASSIVE VOICE, KUJA.] ...The person who dragged Marche into Clan Nutsy was a moogle. [Moogles do not amuse the tiny fencer.]

...... [] They managed to show up on a mostly dead world despite attempts to keep them out, and get into places there logically would be no way for them to enter; I wonder if the moogles of different worlds are separate populations, or if they're secretly more "fae" than people realize and it's the same species and society everywhere.

[Ritz is just... making a face.] If it helps that theory any, they're one of only two races in the dream-Ivalice that can become Time Mages. ...and the others specialize in pretty much nothing but weird magic.

[] It's hard to pin down what kinds of magic the ones on Gaea and Terra use - they're everywhere, but they tend to be ... like this background presence that everyone's so used to that they don't pay attention to them anymore. I wouldn't be too surprised if they were somehow lurking in Saint Ivalice and just avoiding drawing attention.

...That's a scary thought. Secretly, there are moogles-- watching you sleep. Watching you in the sh- okay that's just gross. [As much as the concept does freak her out- because dude, someone you're not sure is even there, watching you all the time?- she seriously cannot remain that serious for that long.] I think I'm going to have nightmares about moogles now.

[] Dead. Planet.

And my home had wards such that the only ways into most of it were a couple of teleporters you had to be keyed to. They still got in.

...That's... really creepy. [Like, feeling like she needs to go take a bath in bleach creepy. She's never going to look at Montblanc the same ever again.] I know I'm going to have nightmares about moogles now.

Date: 2011-09-09 07:57 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com
Who knows. Maybe you could get some answers when you get home by leaving something to lure out any lurking moogles. []

Date: 2011-09-09 07:58 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com
I can just see it now- leaving food out for the moogles and going "I know you're out there!" at basically nothing. [Sadly it's not that bad of an idea.]

Date: 2011-09-09 08:02 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com
I'd say more "leave food out and hide in wait", particularly if there's someplace with a lot of reports of small things going missing or things being moved when no-one is looking. I'm almost surprised they don't seem to've found a way to Johto.

Date: 2011-09-09 08:04 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com
I don't want to see a moogle in Johto right now. I just don't. Maybe the next thing my clan will go after when I get back to the dream Ivalice is a nice big moogle clan. With time mages. [Because clearly the way to deal with being creeped out by moogles is to beat a bunch of troublemaking ones in a fight.]

Date: 2011-09-09 08:16 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com
You know, with the way Johto works with new arrivals - those who weren't human getting turned human, and magic no longer working - I imagine they'd run into the same difficulty as anyone else here, if they had a way to try to get here intentionally. []

Date: 2011-09-09 08:24 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com
[How about both?] I'm not sure if that's creepy or comforting... [She's going to just- shake her head.]

Date: 2011-09-09 08:36 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com
It does make me wonder...

Obviously some principles of a form of magic work in Johto - and whatever is bringing people here, is basically enforcing the 'local rules' on everyone from elsewhere, to the point of even physical transformation.

I wonder if whatever principles are at work here might not be something that would have similarities to what's in effect on your world, with magic being limited?

Date: 2011-09-09 08:42 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com
[...........That is a wholly disturbing concept, Kuja, and she's glad she doesn't have anything in her hand or else she would have dropped it.]

That might mean that someone- or something with a lot of power is at work back home. And that it might not be friendly to people who happen to like having Viera and Bangaa and Nu Mou and-- everything around. [She did just go pale. I think you hit on something that genuinely scares her, Kuja.]

Date: 2011-09-09 08:51 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com
It would, again, make that book something important - if those ideas came from somewhere, and were things that were once on Ivalice, then not only is that book a print record of information - and powerful in that right - it's also one of the few examples of working magic that's in some kind of loophole. [] You learned some magic while in Dream Ivalice, yes?

Date: 2011-09-09 09:01 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com
Yeah. Cure and Fire. [It's still- something bigger than her that might not be able to be really... fought by a blunt instrument. And that scares her, because she's still in a very 'blunt instrument' mentality.]
