[6th Scene] [Video]

[There's a moment where things are silent except for the singing hum of a Vibrava's wings; half of his team's visible - Bahamut hovering behind flickering in and out of view, Karma in his arms - looking like a halfway respectable fish instead of the saddest zombie-fish ever, while Iago the Arbok has his head resting on Kuja's shoulder like an oversized scaly dog. He's still not fond of large broadcasts, particularly when he's honestly a bit upset, but he knows Zidane had to know other people in Johto - and Zidane is still the best exception to his uneven relationship with things like "responsibility" and "morals".]

If anyone in Johto knew my brother, Zidane Tribal -

He's been sent home; there's no sign of his pokémon that I've seen, but if anyone finds them, I would appreciate word that they're alright. [And he can't even say he knows whether or not Zidane is alright, considering what he understands so far of this 'Cycle of Conflict'.]

[Already uncomfortable with being this public with it, there's another pause before the cuts off the feed.]

He was my brother... I should be the one to take care of things, if anyone.

...Still. [Ritz is clearly, well, worried about Kuja. She didn't- Zidane was important, but mainly because he was Kuja's brother.] It's not like it's the end of the world, right? He's pretty smart, I don't think he'll get in too much trouble, wherever he went.

[Bijou is turning her head up to lick at Kuja's hand, grabbing it with her front feet.]

[] He's from - ahead of me; from what he and the others he knew from then had said, it wasn't an exactly pleasant situation... but he does have friends, there. [] I doubt they'd lose.

It is much appreciated. Although I know quite a few people back home that would consider this a sign of the end of the world.

[She's judging you by what she sees here, dude.]

Some people back home would already be screaming about it because 'granny Ritz' isn't dying her hair anymore.

[identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
..."Granny Ritz"? []

I'm going to assume that your hair color isn't common on your world, as it would be on Gaea - it wasn't unusual to see people with that color either from birth or side effects of magic, particularly Red Mages.

I didn't exactly hate my hair before I started getting made fun of. And no, nobody in Saint Ivalice had white or silver hair. [Ritz is folding her arms.] A lot of the Viera I met did, though- and they're the only ones who can be Red Mages... [Which is... interesting.]

[]

If it's natural, then it has to be a trait occurring somewhere in your world...

[] I wish I could say it was a reliable rule on Gaea or a common side effect, but I suspect the Red Mages affected that way was more due to juggling clashing schools of magic than anything; if they were born with it, it was coincidental. Of course, Gaea was a world where magic in general was commonplace.

[identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Yay distraction via weird shit to think about!] Huh. Yeah, it'd have to be. It could have even been my father, I don't remember him that well and neither does anyone in town. [Or maybe they just don't talk about him.]

Yeah, in Saint Ivalice there... really wasn't any magic at all.

[Action]

[identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
It could also be something recessive enough that it was carried, but not visible, for a few generations; some things can be dormant like that for quite a while. []

Mmm. And I don't exactly have enough information to say if the ones on Gaea that were born with it, had such because of some side-effect of the ambient magic at some point, or if it was just a perfectly natural genetic quirk.

It's weird, isn't it, how much the dream Ivalice and your world seem to have in common. [Not everything, but... a lot more than can comfortably be written off as coincidence.]

I wonder... [] Zidane had mentioned something with people from different worlds, apparently ones that were interconnected somehow - the people here that knew the two of us that I hadn't seen were from this "Cycle of Conflict", and there were some others who may not've been directly involved in that, but were from the same worlds as the others.

On my world Bahamut is an Eidolon - a sort of demigod; Bahamut's original trainer was from the same world as Cecil, and he does seem to be evolving into a dragon, which means that's a close enough parallel. You've mentioned chocobos, which are familiar to me; there weren't Viera on Gaea, but there were a great deal of demihuman races with animal features - and if Red Mages work similarly enough for us to both seem to understand it the same, then some bits of magic in the Dream Ivalice are similar, and there may be other parallels.

It's the kind of thing that makes you wonder why, huh? I mean, if mages are still common enough where you're from, and other races, why are they all gone in Saint Ivalice? Even if it was the isolation thing, or even... just not liking other races, I'd have grown up hearing about how someone was "stupid like those Bangaa" or "maybe your dad cheated on your mom with a Viera" about my hair. You'd still hear things like the big regional hospitals for the really serious, life-threatening injuries having white mages who're trained up to curaga, or "that's nothing a cure can't fix", but there's nothing like that at all! [That... has more than the slightest touch of 'THIS MAKES NO SENSE AND I HAVE BEEN SITTING ON THIS RANT FOR A WHILE'. Just... just a little.]

[Action]

[identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
My best guesses would be the world recovering from some kind of major disaster that actively damaged something so that the other races were wiped out and magic suppressed and forgotten, or someone willfully working to eradicate such - or possibly the former caused by the latter. There was a race wiped out down to two surviving members on my world - they were a little isolated, but not long afterwards even in the area they'd lived in they'd fallen into being practically legends and nothing more; give enough time and enough other pressures to distract people and they would've been completely forgotten save some out of the way rubble in a few generations, taking an entire school of magic with them. [] This "Cycle of Conflict" is something that hasn't happened for me yet, so I wouldn't know if anyone in it was from Saint Ivalice, and from what Zidane had said, many of those involved gradually lost memories of their homeworld, which might make it difficult to ask the others.

[] I don't suppose your Dream Ivalice had moogles?

[perma action. :|]

[identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
[GRATE USE OF PASSIVE VOICE, KUJA.] ...The person who dragged Marche into Clan Nutsy was a moogle. [Moogles do not amuse the tiny fencer.]

[identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
...... [] They managed to show up on a mostly dead world despite attempts to keep them out, and get into places there logically would be no way for them to enter; I wonder if the moogles of different worlds are separate populations, or if they're secretly more "fae" than people realize and it's the same species and society everywhere.

[identity profile] usedfeint.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Ritz is just... making a face.] If it helps that theory any, they're one of only two races in the dream-Ivalice that can become Time Mages. ...and the others specialize in pretty much nothing but weird magic.

[identity profile] silver-lucifer.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
[] It's hard to pin down what kinds of magic the ones on Gaea and Terra use - they're everywhere, but they tend to be ... like this background presence that everyone's so used to that they don't pay attention to them anymore. I wouldn't be too surprised if they were somehow lurking in Saint Ivalice and just avoiding drawing attention.
